A two-volume county history of Cleveland in North Yorkshire, written by the antiquarian clergyman John Christopher Atkinson and issued by J. Richardson in 1872 for local subscribers and antiquarian readers. The plates are tinted lithographs of manor houses, rectories, parish churches and ivy-grown castle ruins set among trees and lawns, with pale green and buff tints, wide margins and engraved captions useful for landscape silhouettes and architectural profiles.
