Pride and prejudice
An illustrated edition of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, published by Macmillan in London in 1895 with an introduction by Austin Dobson and forty pen drawings by Charles Edmund Brock, aimed at general late-Victorian readers of the classics. The line illustrations are clean, sparsely hatched interior scenes with captioned dialogue, showing Regency dress, tailcoats and high-waisted gowns, chandeliers, fireplaces and drawing-room furniture, useful for period costume reference, figure poses in conversation, and captioned plate layouts.
