Sense and sensibility
An 1896 Macmillan edition of Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility, illustrated by Hugh Thomson with an introduction by Austin Dobson, aimed at late-Victorian readers buying Austen as a gift book. The pen-and-ink drawings stage drawing-room encounters in light, open line, offering Regency dress, bonnets, chairs, pianofortes and doorways, plus captioned figure groups usable as spot illustrations.
