The Hungarian edition of the multivolume survey of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, begun at the initiative of Crown Prince Rudolf and edited by Mór Jókai, published from 1885 for a broad reading public in the empire. Wood-engraved text pages carry headpiece landscapes, wide panoramas of towns and river valleys, heraldic shields, and marginal vignettes of peasants, harvest carts and vines that frame the letterpress on three sides.
