A travers le Zanguebar. Voyage ... Par les PP. Baur et Le Roy ... Orné de 45 gravures ... Deuxième édition
A French Catholic missionary travel narrative through Zanzibar and the East African coast, written by the Holy Ghost Fathers Stephan Baur and Alexandre Le Roy and issued in a second edition in 1887 for devout and armchair-travelling readers at home. The 45 wood engravings, mostly cut after Le Roy's own field sketches, show palm-lined river banks, thatched village compounds, seated and walking figures, and open landscapes under wide skies, with fine parallel hatching that supplies foliage textures, silhouetted tree profiles, and captioned full-page plates.
