Switzerland. Illustrated in a series of views taken expressly for this work by W. H. Bartlett. [With a map
A two-volume topographical travel account of Switzerland written by William Beattie and issued by George Virtue in London in 1836, with steel engravings after drawings made on the spot by W. H. Bartlett for armchair travellers and tourists. The plates show lakes, alpine valleys, walled towns and castles in pale graded tones, with framing trees and tiny figures useful for atmospheric backgrounds, vignette borders and silhouettes.
