Albert Berg's 1862 German account of Rhodes, combining history, geography, archaeology and travel description with original etchings and woodcuts made from his own studies on the island. The plates are landscape views in fine etched line — walled towns seen across water, palms and cypresses above Ottoman-era ramparts, oak-shaded cliffs and stony hillside roads — printed small within wide blank margins, useful for horizon-line compositions, foliage texture and Mediterranean architectural silhouettes.
