“A Peep into the Past”: Brighton in the Olden Time, with glances at the present, etc. [With plates, including portraits
A local history of Brighton by John George Bishop, published by him in the town in 1892 for residents and visitors, tracing the resort from its fishing-village past to the late Victorian present. The plates are line engravings of streets, seafront terraces and the Pavilion, many keyed with numbered legends, with small figures in Regency dress useful as period street furniture and architectural profiles.
