Springhaven. A tale of the Great War ... Third edition
A third edition of R. D. Blackmore's Springhaven, a novel of English coastal life during the Napoleonic wars, published in London in 1888 for the Victorian circulating-library reader. The 64 wood-engraved plates carry captions set in small capitals beneath crowded quayside and village-street groups, naval officers assembled on deck, cottage interiors lit from a single window, and two-figure encounters on a lane; useful for period costume, hatched shading, and captioned figure groupings.
