Taking a Stand, etc
A short juvenile story by the American children's writer Amy Ella Blanchard, published in Philadelphia by G. W. Jacobs & Co. in 1896 for young readers. The plates are decorative headpieces printed as white line on a solid black ground: winged putti flanking a basket of fruit among acanthus scrolls, enclosed in a beaded and dentil border, repeated through the volume and usable as rules, chapter openers, or cut-apart corner and cartouche elements.
