The Life of George Barnwell; or, the London apprentice of the last century. [A novel. With illustrations
A cheap illustrated novel by Edward Litt Leman Blanchard, published in London by Thomas White in 1841, retelling the George Barnwell apprentice story for a popular serial-reading audience. Small wood engravings signed Mason show eighteenth-century interiors: candlelit garrets, prison cells with barred windows, taverns and parlours with figures in breeches, frock coats and full skirts, useful for period costume, domestic props and cross-hatched shadow textures.
