A two-volume illustrated survey of the Australian colonies compiled by Edwin Carton Booth and issued by Virtue & Co. in London in 1873, aimed at British readers and prospective emigrants curious about the settlements and country. The 126 steel engravings, after drawings by Skinner Prout and Nicholas Chevalier, are wide landscape views framed by overhanging branches, with pale blank skies, finely hatched distant ranges, small figures and township rooftops, and engraved captions in spaced capitals.
