The Poetical Works of Sir Alexander Boswell ... Now first collected and edited, with memoir, by Robert Howie Smith
A posthumous collected edition of the verse of Sir Alexander Boswell, edited with a memoir by Robert Howie Smith and published by M. Ogle & Co. in 1871 for Scottish literary readers. The four pictures are small wood-engraved vignettes in olive-grey ink: a dancing bear in a stippled roundel flanked by scrolls and a grotesque mask, a kneeling woman in a sunflower-bordered medallion, an anchor entwined with foliage lettered ANCHORA SPEI, and a sprig of lily-of-the-valley — ready-made spot ornaments, medallion frames, and device layouts.
