Em; or, Spells and counter-spells
A short Victorian moral tale for young readers, written by Mary Bramston and issued in 1878 by Marcus Ward & Co., a firm known for decorated gift books. The fourteen pictures are wood-engraved chapter headpieces and tailpieces: ribbon-tied bouquets of roses and daisies, a flat stylised rosette-and-scroll ornament, and a moth hovering over cut blooms, all usable as small spot decorations and page dividers.
