A German topographical travel companion to the banks of the river Main, written by Ludwig Braunfels with 54 steel engravings after drawings by Fritz Bamberger, published in Frankfurt by Jügel in 1844 for tourists and river travellers. The plates are small horizontal views with wide pale skies, towns and castles read as low silhouettes across the water, and foregrounds of vineyard terraces, boats and figures — useful for town skylines, engraved sky hatching and framed vignette layouts.
