Poems on several occasions
Poems on several occasions collects the verse of William Broome, one of Pope's collaborators on the Homer translation, printed in London by Henry Lintot in 1739 for a general reading public. The plates are printer's ornaments lifted from the letterpress pages: small symmetrical woodcut tailpieces of flowers in urns, rosettes, foliate scrolls and leaf sprays, inked unevenly on laid paper and usable as spot devices, dividers or repeat motifs.
