Burns. [Poems, letters and journals. With plates, including a portrait
An 1879 Virtue & Co. edition of Robert Burns's poems, letters and journals, issued in London for Victorian readers who bought steel-engraved gift editions of the Scottish poets. The 47 plates are tonal steel engravings: literary scenes of couples and shepherds in Lowland dress, dogs, plaids and bonnets, and wide valley views of Scottish villages under clouded skies, useful for soft grey landscape backgrounds and period costume figures.
