The Creoles of Louisiana. [With illustrations
A popular history of New Orleans Creole society by the novelist George Washington Cable, issued in London by J. C. Nimmo in 1885 for general readers. The 48 wood-engraved plates show the Old Ursuline Convent, galleried plantation houses, courtyards and crowded levee wharves in soft grey halftone-like tones, with small engraved captions useful for architectural detail and riverfront crowd silhouettes.
