The Book of Garth and Fortingall. Historical sketches relating to the districts of Garth, Fortingall, Athole, and Breadalbane
A privately printed local history of the Perthshire districts of Garth, Fortingall, Athole and Breadalbane, compiled by Duncan Campbell of the Northern Chronicle and issued in 1888 for subscribers and landowning families. The plates pair hand-tinted estate maps, where hachured hills and river valleys sit under orange, blue and green boundary washes and blocky lettered cartouches, with pen-and-ink views of ruined towers above wooded burns, useful for map textures, boundary overlays and etched landscape vignettes.
