A Spanish regional miscellany on Cantabria — letters, arts, history and present-day life — published in Madrid in 1890 for a local readership of subscribers and provincial boosters. The plates are photo-derived halftones and process engravings printed in text columns: coastal villages seen across water, a neo-Gothic palace terrace with balustrade, arcaded market fronts, and a spired church against hills, useful for soft grey landscape tone, ornate stone facades and small in-column picture blocks.
