Logroño. A metric drama in two acts ... With twenty-nine illustrations by T. Walter Wilson
A verse drama in two acts published in London by M. Ward & Co. in 1877, written by Frederick Guthrie under the name Frederick Cerny and illustrated with twenty-nine wood-engraved plates by T. Walter Wilson. The plates alternate between wooded river landscapes built from dense horizontal hatching and dark interiors and night scenes with bats, cloaked swordsmen in plumed hats, and littered cellars, offering designers ready-made tonal skies, silhouetted tree edges and high-contrast black grounds.
