Chandrahāsa. An ancient Indian monarch. A romance
A short prose romance of 1881 retelling the story of Chandrahasa, an ancient Indian king, issued by the London jobbing publisher C. Foster & Co. for general Victorian readers. The plates are not narrative scenes but printer's ornaments: symmetrical acanthus tailpieces with masks, looping scroll lozenges, hard-edged geometric knots, and a flower-filled urn ringed by leafy vines — ready-made rules, borders and spot devices.
