A three-volume-style Victorian novel published by Griffith & Farran in London in 1880, written by Clara de Chatelain and edited by her husband, the Chevalier de Chatelain, for general English readers. The pictures are small pen-drawn ornaments — winged grotesque heads, dotted-ground initials and curling acanthus tails — usable as chapter openers, drop caps and section markers.
