A German abridgement, published in 1843, of Thomas Allom's "China, in a Series of Views" with George Newenham Wright's descriptive text, issued as a picture book of China for German readers. The steel engravings are wide topographical views with captions in blackletter: karst peaks, lakes, pagodas and temple courtyards, terraced rock, and small groups of figures in the foreground, offering fine grey line work, layered aerial perspective and usable architectural detail.
