A collected edition of the Australian novelist and journalist Marcus Clarke, edited with a biography by Hamilton Mackinnon and printed in Melbourne by Fergusson & Mitchell in 1890 for colonial readers. The plates here are line-drawn chapter ornaments: symmetrical scrollwork with urns, rosettes, trailing tendrils, acanthus and a foliate mask, usable as headpieces, tailpieces and small dividers.
