An Account of the English Colony in New South Wales ... To which are added, some particulars of New Zealand; compiled ... from the MSS. of Lieutenant-Governor King ... Illustrated by engravings
A colonial settlement account of New South Wales by David Collins, Judge Advocate of the colony, with material from Lieutenant-Governor Philip Gidley King, published in London by Cadell & Davies in 1804 for British readers following the penal settlement and the Pacific. The plates are fine outline engravings: ranked groups of Aboriginal men with spears in ceremonial and burial scenes, set against sparse gum trees and stippled sky, plus wide harbour panoramas of early Sydney with fenced huts and roads, useful for silhouetted figure rows, thin-line landscape horizons and engraved cloud texture.
