Poor Miss Finch. A novel
Wilkie Collins's 1872 sensation novel, issued in London by Richard Bentley & Son for the Victorian circulating-library readership. The plates are small black-line printer's ornaments repeated through the text: a symmetrical spray of cut-leaved geranium with four open blooms, and a coiled emblem combining rose, thistle, shamrock and holly, useful as chapter headpieces, tailpieces or stencil-like botanical motifs.
