Dramatic Scenes. With other poems, now first printed ... Illustrated
A collection of verse dramas and lyric poems by Barry Cornwall (pen name of the London lawyer-poet Bryan Waller Procter), issued in an illustrated edition by Chapman & Hall in 1857 for the Victorian gift-book market. The 57 wood engravings, drawn in fine open line with pale grey washes of hatching, stage small groups in Elizabethan and seventeenth-century dress against woods, gardens and town streets, with arched or rounded tops — useful for period costume reference, crowd grouping, and light-toned vignette frames.
