In Scorn of Consequence; or, My brother's keeper
A Victorian novel by Theodora Corrie, issued in London by Tinsley Bros. in 1886 for the circulating-library readership. The plates held here are the book's printed ornaments rather than scenes: outline-engraved headpieces and tailpieces built from oak leaves, acorns, roses and acanthus scrolls, some framing a medallion portrait or a basket of flowers, with triangular arrangements that suit chapter openings, borders, monogram frames and repeat motifs.
