Baron Jean Charles Davillier's account of his travels through Spain, issued in Paris in 1874 with 309 wood engravings after Gustave Doré, aimed at French armchair travellers. The plates show crowded fairs, romerías, tavern interiors, bullring scenes and mounted processions, drawn in dense crosshatched tone with strong backlighting; useful for regional dress, mule and horse tackle, and massed figure groups.
