The Life and Strange Surprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe ... Illustrated
An 1895 London edition of Defoe's Robinson Crusoe from Ernest Nister, illustrated throughout for general and family readers. The plates are wash drawings reproduced in halftone, each with a quoted caption and page reference: fur-clad castaway figures, rescues and scuffles on open beaches, sailors in groups, and a climber clinging to rock in storm-blurred air, useful for loose grey tonal figure work and empty pale backgrounds.
