The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe ... Newly edited after the original editions. With twenty illustrations by Kauffman. [Parts 1 and 2, abridged. With an introduction signed: S. R. B
An abridged 1884 London edition of Defoe's Robinson Crusoe, re-edited for general and younger readers by T. Fisher Unwin with twenty plates by Kauffman, bound up with publisher's specimen leaves advertising other Unwin titles. The wood-engraved plates run from open-line coastal scenes with figures on rock ledges and a ship offshore to dense crosshatched battle and mountain-pass scenes, giving designers both sparse outline drawing and heavy tonal shading, plus captioned specimen pages with vertical side lettering.
