The Ban of Maplethorpe ... With a memoir of the author
A late Victorian novel by Edward Heneage Dering, issued with a memoir of the author by the Art & Book Co. in 1894 for a British Catholic readership. Six halftone plates reproduce paintings: full-length portraits of a bearded man in fur-trimmed coat beside a moated manor, and long picture-hung galleries with armour, coffered ceilings and fireplaces, useful as tonal interiors and period figures.
