A popular narrative history of the Tower of London by William Hepworth Dixon, issued in its seventh edition by Bicker & Son in London in 1885 for Victorian general readers. The plates here are not historical scenes but pen-outline plant ornaments — lily, honeysuckle and snowdrop — drawn with curling petals and sparse hatching on cream stock, several built into symmetrical triangular tailpieces usable as chapter dividers, borders or single-colour botanical motifs.
