Coridon's Song and other verses from various sources. With illustrations by Hugh Thomson ... With an introduction by Austin Dobson. L.P
An 1894 Macmillan anthology of English pastoral and tavern verse, illustrated by Hugh Thomson with an introduction by Austin Dobson, issued as a large-paper gift edition for late-Victorian readers of antiquarian verse. The pen drawings stage courtship, gossip and games in eighteenth-century dress against garden walls, hedges and thatched sheds, with figures built from loose contour lines and sparse hatching that leaves wide areas of open paper — useful for line-art vignettes, headpieces and costume reference.
