A short Victorian children's story by Evelyn Whitaker, author of "Laddie," issued by W. & R. Chambers in Edinburgh and London in 1895 for young readers and the Sunday-school gift market. The plates are line-engraved headpiece bands, each a circular vignette of a perched bird, butterfly or sleeping animal set into a rectangle of blossom, berry sprays and foliage, useful as chapter rules, panel borders and roundel frames.
