The Refugees ... New edition
A new edition of Arthur Conan Doyle's historical novel of Louis XIV's court and the Huguenot flight to New France, issued by Longmans in London in 1895 for general novel readers. Twenty-five captioned plates reproduce wash drawings as blue-grey halftones: cloaked frontier figures with muskets, panelled court interiors, candlelit chambers, useful for period costume silhouettes and soft tonal crowd groupings.
