Among the Zulus; the adventures of Hans Sterk ... With illustrations by J. B. Zwecker. New ... edition. Third thousand
An 1879 London reissue of Alfred Wilks Drayson's boys' adventure tale of a Boer hunter among the Zulus, with plates by the German-born natural-history illustrator John Baptist Zwecker. Full-page wood engravings stage spear-armed figures, mounted hunters and a lion attack against dense bush and open veld, heavy with crosshatched shadow, while small text vignettes of a rose spray and a bird on a branch offer clean line motifs for spot art and rules.
