Geschichte von Bayern und der zum Königreiche Bayern gehörigen Provinzen Rheinpfalz, Franken u. Schwaben in 120 Bildern mit erklärendem Texte
A popular illustrated history of Bavaria and its provinces — Rhenish Palatinate, Franconia, Swabia — compiled by Thomas Driendl in 1853, with 120 captioned plates and explanatory text for German general and school readers. The wood engravings stage single historical episodes in shallow outline-and-hatch style: dukes and emperors receiving envoys, clergy in procession, masons building a bridge, armoured retinues before castle walls, each set in a plate border with a Fraktur caption line useful for figure groups, medieval costume and architectural backdrops.
