Haunted Rooms. A tale. By A. L. O. E. [i.e. Miss C. Tucker
A moral tale for young readers by A. L. O. E. (Charlotte Maria Tucker), published in London in 1876 for the Victorian children's gift-book trade. The indexed plates come mainly from the publisher's illustrated advertisement leaves: small wood-engraved vignettes of nestling birds, a bat hanging among leaves, and children crouched in undergrowth, set under display-lettered headings and price lines that designers can lift as ready-made ornamented ad layouts.
