Castle Rackrent and The Absentee ... With an introduction by Anne Thackeray Ritchie
An 1895 Macmillan edition of Maria Edgeworth's Irish novels Castle Rackrent and The Absentee, introduced by Anne Thackeray Ritchie and illustrated for late-Victorian readers of reprinted fiction. The pen drawings are interior scenes of two or three costumed figures in conversation — tailcoats, aprons, hooped skirts, curtained windows — built from loose hatching with open white grounds and captioned in italic, useful for period figure groups, dialogue poses and vignette-style spot art.
