The Germans in France. Notes on the method and conduct of the invasion ... partly reproduced from the “Times,” etc
A journalist's account of the Franco-Prussian War by Henry Sutherland Edwards, published in London in 1874 and drawn partly from his despatches to the Times for British readers following the invasion of France. The plates here are not war scenes but printers' ornaments: a wood-engraved rose spray, a scrolling acanthus headpiece topped with paired doves, a triangular tailpiece of rosettes and acorns, and an inked urn of tulips and lilies, all usable as spot decorations, chapter breaks and corner fillers.
