A Winter with the Swallows
A travel narrative by the English writer Matilda Barbara Betham-Edwards, published in London in 1867 and addressed to Victorian readers following her winter journey south. The plates here are engraved printer's ornaments: symmetrical triangular tailpieces built from scrolling foliage, star- and hexagon-filled roundels, berries and a five-petalled rosette, plus a lighter laurel-and-wild-rose spray, all in fine line suited to vector tracing, borders and corner devices.
