Famous American Indians. Red Eagle and the wars with the Creek Indians of Alabama
A popular history for young American readers by George Cary Eggleston, published by Dodd, Mead & Co. in New York in 1878, recounting Red Eagle and the Creek wars in Alabama. The plates here are printers' ornaments rather than scenes: symmetrical lily-and-scroll vignettes, a butterfly finial, ribbon-tied tailpieces, printed in blue-black with broken, ink-starved edges useful as chapter dividers and spot decoration.
