FAHNE, Anton. · 1864 · 95 pictures

A German-language study of Rhenish and Westphalian history by the genealogist and heraldist Anton Fahne, published in 1864 for antiquarians and family historians tracing regional noble lines. The illustrations are small in-text woodcuts of coats of arms, each a plain rounded shield filled with one bold charge — a bend, a fess, indented or embattled bars, roundels, arrowheads, a lion rampant — printed in solid black on off-white paper, useful as ready-made silhouette emblems, monogram grounds or repeating motifs.
