A volume of Anton Fahne's genealogical and heraldic research into Rhineland and Westphalian family history, published in Germany in 1864 for antiquarians and local historians. The plates are small woodcut shields drawn in thick uneven outline, each carrying a plain charge — chevrons, embattled fesses, bars, three covered cups — with the family name set in type beneath, useful as ready-made emblem silhouettes, crest blanks, or coarse-line geometric motifs.
