Tombleson's Views of the Rhine. Edited by W. G. Fearnside. [With plates
A steel-engraved topographical album of Rhine scenery published by W. Tombleson & Co. in London in 1832, edited by William Gray Fearnside for British travellers and armchair tourists. The 68 plates are wide tonal landscapes: hilltop castles and cathedral spires, river bends with boats, ruins among trees, and small figures on paths, with graded skies and dense foliage hatching usable as backgrounds and vignettes.
