Episodes of Life. In poetry and prose ... Edited by ... H. L. Forster. [With portrait
An 1872 miscellany of poetry and prose by Jonathan Langstaff Forster, edited by Henry Langstaff Forster and issued for a British general readership. The plates are repeated line-engraved chapter ornaments: a symmetrical horizontal spray of acanthus scrolls, curled cornucopia-like volutes and small leaf clusters around a central finial, usable as rules, dividers, headpieces and tailpieces.
