Adventures in Many Lands ... with illustrations by S. P. Hall
Parker Gillmore's collection of travel and hunting narratives, illustrated by Sydney Prior Hall and issued by Marcus Ward & Co. in 1879 for British general and juvenile readers. The pages sampled here are wood-engraved chapter ornaments rather than scenes: symmetrical floral sprays and rosette fans in fine outline, plus a grotesque mask cartouche with scrolled wings and hanging rings, usable as tailpieces, dividers and small spot motifs.
