1860 · 42 pictures

A collection of numbered woodcuts drawn and cut by Greenlandic Inuit artists, printed at the mission press in Godthåb (Nuuk) in 1860 under Hinrich Rink's direction and circulated to Greenlandic readers and Danish subscribers. The prints show kayakers, seal and bird hunting, turf houses, trading scenes and folktale figures in flat outline with dense parallel hatching for mountains, water and sky, each plate captioned with a number and Greenlandic name; useful for figure silhouettes, hatched landscape texture and small captioned vignettes.
